After completing both his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Hongik University, Joo-sung Kim established a design studio called Typohouse, and performed various successful visual design projects. He is currently a professor at the Department of Communication Design at Myongji College, and his works around experimental typography design have been invited to numerous international exhibitions. He served as the 12th president of the Visual Information Design Association of Korea and as the vice-chairman of the Academic Discourse Division of the Korean Society of Basic Art and Design. He is currently a member of the Korean Society of Design Studies and the member of the Korean Society of Typography.

홍익대학교 및 동 대학원 졸업 후 타이포하우스 설립하고 다양하고 성공적인 시각디자인 프로젝트를 수행하였다. 현재 명지전문대학의 커뮤니케이션디자인과 교수로 재직 중이며, 실험적 타이포그래피를 중심으로 디자인된 작품들이 수많은 국제 전시회에 초청되었다. 한국시각정보디자인협회 12대 회장 및 한국기초조형학회 소속 학술 담론분과 부회장 역임하였다. 현재는 한국디자인학회 회원이자 한국타이포그래피학회 회원으로 활동하고 있다.
